As a private teacher, I find that school can not even come close to the effectiveness I can achieve with my students. I am not just a tutor, I am more like a teacher running his own school. There is no interference from anyone. School is a sluggish system that is wildly ineffective and redundant. I have found this book to be quite interesting. It is written by educators who know that conventional schooling needs reformation. Though I say tear down all schools, and let's create a system where students, teachers and parents are more happy and not burdened by a headless despotic education system and a relic from the industrial revolution where the question of 'what to do with the children' was in need of addressing. http://paltip.com/westlondonenglish/!50pu From West London English and Media Teacher, English and Media teacher in Harrow, London

English teaching would be much easier if there was a real set of texts that went through each step of an assessment or exam with thoroughness. Fortunately good teachers armed with AQA Moon on the Tides (Conflict and Relationships) is one such book that goes through each poem with a fine tooth comb and shows the student the methodology of how to achieve a high mark in the exam.

English Language students have a real ally and helping hand with this book and a good teacher. I have seen my students typically raise their grade from a low C to an A. The book goes through all the aspects of the exam and is written by an experienced examiner. Each section, reading and writing are given thorough attention. It gives insights into what an exemplar answer needs to include, so the student can objectify the often nebulous definition of what an A, B or C is. Learning the nuts and bolts of essay writing is not easy for some students. Like any skill it is imperative that one practices with precision from the outset. If there is a book that teaches essay writing, I would recommend as it covers all areas from a great educator. My students progressed with AQA English Language B A2 Students' book. It has a brief summary of what the student needs to develop the two pieces of course work, and the exact approach for the exam.
